wheres the throwing sparklings posts???
I hadn't specifically talked about it, except in this ask and made short references in various AUs and Seekerkin posts, so here's a snippet with the Nesting Instinct fic. (Heads up, Thundercracker and Nova Storm are femmes. No outward difference, besides being far larger than the mechs.)
The other Aerialbots went off without a hitched, joy overtaking any sense of fear and anxiety, cheeping happily once caught below.
Silverbolt, however, wailed. Flailing as he dropped in the sky, screaming even when safe in Thundercracker's arms. Face flushed blue and optics frightened to pure white, vents hiccuping and gasping as the Seeker worked out the hysteria and terror flooding the immature and frazzled EM field. Her frame purring comfort and safety to her charge.
From the distance, sympathetic cries came from his brothers, the gestalt-bond channeled the emotional distress and fear, and from the Stunticons, who were feeding off the Aerialbots' sudden bursts. Skywarp, Nova Storm, and Ion Storm were busy wrangling nine upset sparklings.
Acid Storm carefully landed near Thundercracker. The soft landing with no glass on the sand beneath his pedes was a testament to his skills. Concern painted across his features as he said, "We didn't go as high as the others."
Thundercracker crooned her engines to let the soothing rhythem pull the tension away from Silverbolt as she replied, "That's why it's best to do it before the film-blindness fades. Vision is then given too much priority."
There were other reasons, too. But she kept those unsaid.
:: A flyer that fears heights is a sorry sight. :: Thrust rasped through Thundercracker's personal comm. :: Perhaps it's a good thing. All this is a temporary measure. Eventually, they'll leave us for the Autobots. The last thing we need is for the Aerialbots to become formidable enough to rework our tactics. ::
Silverbolt whimpered, jittering spark desperately trying to self soothe and reach out, afraid of being rejected. She mourns the visceral reaction, something that shouldn't be happening as she steadied him, allowing him to flow into herself, nudging him to latch on and never let go. Silverbolt then chewed her collarfare, little denta scrapping away as he winded down.
The Seekerkin were scattered to the winds, few and far in-between among the Autobots, but by some strange twist, a handful were still active on Earth.
Yet none of them stepped forward. Not the chatty sharpshooter nor the gambling smoothtalker nor the spy... Not even the Autobot SIC who's responsible for managing them as the highest rank Seekerkin of the faction. He should have, at the very least, delegated the task to one of the others.
If they had, then the age regressed Aerialbots wouldn't have responded as powerfully to her own presence as they had. Nearly grabbing the tentative and flayed ends of her tattered bonds with a frantic edge.
The details could no longer be ignored. The Aerialbots never responded properly to her cues, nor engaged in specific behaviors and mannerisms unique to Praxians. They were completely frozen out. Seemingly unwanted and unclaimed without anyone to explain their quirks and instincts. Bumbling around as newbuilds with wings too stiff or fluttering too easily with unrestrained emotions, their formations were a mix between instinct and human pilots, their education nonexistent...
And that was too unforgivable.
:: No, they won't. It's written plainly on their sparks. Even if they were taken back, they'll return to us. Far sooner than later. Seekers will seek. ::
:: Yes. Seekers will seek. :: Thrust repeated the ancient expression, slow and seemingly to himself. Non-Seekerkin constantly misinterpreted the saying when it was truly about a Seeker's drive to the flock. Even a lone one will go search out for a community to bond. Thrust may argue and undermine Starscream, but no one could deny that he was very much a proud mech of his heritage and lineage. :: Perhaps the Aerialbots will seek us out. ::

The way it's depicted, Cybertron's pre-war societal issues had a lot less to do with Functionism and more to do with unchecked government corruption, massive wealth disparity, high layoff/unemployment rates, and disenfranchisement.
People were starving, they needed work, they weren’t getting any. Those that were fortunate enough to have work didn’t get paid living wages, much less have anything to spare for health contingencies. Even then stability’s still the luxury of the top few tiers; they live one cut away from layoff. The government cared only enough to exacerbate these issues by coming up with new ways for exploitation. Any attempts to protest or lobby were shut down through political persecution. As a result the masses turned increasingly to crime, drug abuse, thuggery, and violence. Extreme acts of terrorism gets lauded as long as the collateral damage's suffered by someone else. Morality and caution are eroded in the face of desperation.
Meanwhile the many alleged restrictions of Functionism are just lip service complaints made by the characters which doesn’t match up to most of the stuff we’re shown. Like if Rung could become a psychologist, a specialized job that requires higher education, despite having zero background on top of such a weird alt that he had to be classified as an ornament, then wow the functionists must be open-minded. If Dominus Ambus could be a scientist/doctor/explorer/author/successful social rights advocator during the height of functionist control with a minesweeper military-use alt (assuming that his secondary alt's the same as Minimus'), then wow the functionists must be accommodating. If Tyrest could become chief engineer under Nova and later go into law, a complete change of profession, while being a jet, then wow functionism's flexible. If Ratbat and Momus could become senators in a society that discriminates heavily against beastformers and labor frames, then wow that’s progressive. If every Prime from Nova to Zeta (with the exception of Sentinel, his alt’s a tank, he only has wings in Megatron Origin as part of his Apex armour upgrade), every single named pre-war senator other than Proteus and Momus, and four out of five of Nova Prime’s buddy club (only Galvatron's a grounder) were wingframes in a society that supposedly discriminates against wingframes, then wow that’s… inconsistent worldbuilding.
Megatron didn’t get into bloodsports or start a war because he didn’t get to pursue his dream job. He got driven into the pits and down the slippery slope of moral degeneration because his only source of income was cut off by the mine closure incident. People wanted livelihoods above anything else, it's the failure to provide that that made the miners go off the deep end and resulted in the death of a guard. If Functionism actually ensured that everyone could be guaranteed a job or at least minimized the unemployment rates, then stratified castes or not, there would have been no war. People, or societies, are generally capable of tolerating an incredible amount of injustice as long as the majority still have a chance at scraping by at the end of the day. But the government, and later Megatron, kept yanking the rug out from under everyone over and over until they no longer even had a chance at that; there's no other choice left but fight or die.
#I get that all prejudices are full of contradictions and inconsistencies meant to cater to the needs of the ruling class#for the sole purpose of upholding the social stratification#and tokenism is a common thing#but when you can pull out two or more examples as shown to the contrary for every one of a character's complaints#about how they suffered from functionism discrimination#then it's just a really bad case of inconsistent writing with all tell no show#like you cannot expect me to take the 'flightframes are low caste' thing seriously#because the entire pre-war upper class is almost exclusively comprised of flight frames. it's the ground vehicles that are the minority#honestly it just feels like something made up on the spot for Starscream's sake#and Thundercracker Skywarp Jetfire got benefitted by association#when was functionism introduced as a concept in the comic anyway#was it in that Megatron/Optimus conversation in Chaos Theory?#b/c I'm getting heavy retcon vibes there#I got no impression that functionism was even a thing that existed when reading Megatron Origin#Autocracy's written later but still no functionism#The main social issue is widespread poverty like I'm sure a lot of those ppl would be pretty happy if someone could assign them jobs?#the miners in Megatron Origin weren't mad because they had to work in the mines#They were mad because of the layoff and automation and knowing soon there's going to be no mines for them to work. and then they'd starve#idw transformers#transformers#maccadam

Imma ask a question and I’m gonna need yall not to laugh
Do you think King Bradley from FMAB could take a transformer in a fight? Not like Optimus Prime or Megatron obviously, but someone like Bumblebee or Arcee or even Soundwave maybe
This is for an au I have in my mind that I probably will never write but one I love thinking about nonetheless lmao

Everyone arguing about Stannis, JonCon, Jaime, god forbid Jorah being the 1000th commander of the NW….when it will be Jon again 🌚
#btw this is not stannerism like i do have legitimate reasons why i think it will be jon at the end#i think an interesting part of jon’s politiking as LC is him realizing how deep the rot is in the watch#he spends an entire book - agot - realizing that he institution he spent his childhood idolizing is not so glorious#he spends the next book directly confronting the issues that come with being a good man ( helping gilly#and being a true man to the watch and starting to notice the cracks in the system#and then asos is like the turning point you know?#adwd is him trying to fix the watch from within but failing imo because as i said the rot is far deeper#it doesnt matter how many people you replace the watch needs an overhaul - a complete uprooting to the core#which is why i dont like theories of him being a passive bystander as the watch crumbles#its just too narratively juicy if he takes a part in the destruction of the watch coz yknow some things need to be cleansed w/ fire n blood#a nice lil parallel to dany and what shell be doing in the east throughout winds#i like him as the 1000th lc because its a nice round number and thats a bit silly but its also signifying a renewal#Its a blank slate which is essential to jon because he does have a vision for the watch and the wildings!#and he can start from the ground up - and like one of the most underrated themes in jon’s arc is nation building#ive said before that i think the show kinda got it right.like we’ll see a weird mesh of lc of the nw and kbtw as jon’s endgame#I wont get into that now….but i know a lot of jon stans dont want him back at the wall because it seems needlessly cyclical and i get it#and i get that the watch isnt the most glorious place to be…but i really do think its meant to be a vehicle to explore themes of rebirth#and renewal which appear in jon’s arc -think of jon’s messianic framing and the watch being his “new earth” after all is said and done#not so much a place of punishment but a place to find new meaning and exist beyond many societal frameworks#for the cripples bastards and broken things….anywayyyyy lmaoo#asoiaf#jon snow

Once again thinking about random Cybertronian things.
Like how chaotic flight radios, ATC communications, road rage, and traffic jams and such could be with, ya know, a predominant amount of the vehicles being people

it's been over a whole month since i had a stupid argument with my parents about driving, a skill that i legally possess but hate doing because i have a special brain illness that makes me fear death and injury, but i'm still chewing over an absurd claim that it's "equally dangerous to go on a 14 hour train ride like you just did". literally how is that more dangerous. in what way. in what world. public transport is nice and good and i like it and i don't have to enter my personal torment nexus

they call the sizzle it up vehicle a stagecoach presumably because it has “stage” in the name, but a coach is a passenger vehicle and not large enough for a kitchen/living space. it’s probably more similar to a chuckwagon

I have never been a fan of when Transformers goes the "Autobots are civilian models and Decepticons are war machines" racial way. It actually makes me feel uncomfortable with the implications and brings forth the idea that long-term peace between the two is impossible. I prefer them as simply two operate political factions. What do you think?
I make a post about transformers for the first time in a year and get an immediate political question lmao
Personally (in tfa) I just see them as two types of alien species and not necessarily as racial? Because if I remember correctly the reason for why Autobots in the present time are civilian models is because they won the war and were able to go to a normal life, while Cons couldn't do that and are still stuck in the war era. There definitely were autobots that were war machines or built only for war
I think it works well enough in TFA, but I do like that they're just opposing political sides in most other media (even though it is usually canon that Cons are a bit more strictly militarized than Autobots which is why they tend to more often have war-related frames)

Can I be honest. I’m sick of companies of all sorts designing things that basically only benefit/work for people living in california and nowhere else? It’s getting tiring for the rest of us
